WebFeb 2, 2024 · This walk-thru is based on the original 8N tractor 6 volt wiring. Some earlier 9N and 2N tractors had one-wire generators and used a cutout instead of a voltage regulator. Many of those were later converted to the 8N type generator and voltage regulator, so this walk-through will work for many of those also. Divide and Conquer WebJan 9, 2024 · An 8N VR is polarized by momentarily arc sparking with a screwdriver across the BAT and GEN (ARM) terminals. Do not touch the FIELD terminal or you'll let the smoke out your VR. You should have the 'A' circuit design on your 8N. Only 'B' circuit designs are done different like early 9N's and NAA's.

If it is a 12 volt system, the ideal charging rate is 14.5 volts measured close to the battery. 17 volts is too high and will damage system components.
